I attended a rezoning meeting recently which was geared at re-zoning a five acre parcel from Agriculture to General Business. Doesn't sound too exciting, but the reasoning for this re-zoning is that this parcel of land is scheduled to house the largest cross in the western hemisphere! 23 stories tall, 230 feet, the land is also scheduled to have a small amphitheater, splash pad for kids, welcome center/ gift shop, prayer gardens and a boardwalk nature path with bible scriptures throughout. It truly is an amazing project coming to a small town. The land is located at the corner of CR-32 and CR-73 which should put the cross easily visible from both HWY 59 and the Beach Express Extension.
