Located at 827 Main Street in Roanoke is the First Baptist Church of Roanoke. The original church was organized the same year as the Southern Baptist convention in 1845. It actually hosted the Alabama Baptist Convention annual meeting in 1908. Unfortunately a fire occurred in 1977 but the church was rebuilt in 1979-1980. It is currently thriving and serving its community "Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ".

The Martin Theatre in downtown Roanoke originally opened in 1941 with 380 seats. Unfortunately, lightning hit the building and caught fire in the summer of 1981 burning the interior and leaving only the building shell and theater sign. The theater is now open as an outdoor theater showing movies and hosting live concerts and productions. It also appeared last year on an episode of American Pickers (Sweet Home Alabama - Episode).

Koch Foods has announced that it will be building a $40 million "state of the art" feed mill in Roanoke. So excited for the economic growth for the county and to see new jobs being created. Completion is expected in 2019.
