Big Cove school was where it started for many of us, from the first grade through the ninth grade, at which time we had a graduation ceremony and then moved on to our high schools. The RTJ Golf Course sits on the site of the Dr. Whitaker farm and most of the land within the Big Cove area was cotton fields and hay fields.
