Not sure if you have noticed but Northport is growing with plans for more to come. New buildings are being built to add new businesses for a fresh look to the area. This area is up and coming.

The Huntington school area in Northport continues to see tremendous growth. Families love the convenience of living near Northport Elementary, Huntington Elementary, and Tuscaloosa County High Schools. A new middle school is under construction in the area.

Developers have taken note of the growth. The new commercial development at the corner of Mitt Lary Road and Highway 69 N, The Shops at Bristol Park, has Publix as the anchor store with additional small shops. The development will continue in the adjoining out parcels.

Billy's Sports Grill is one of my favorite local hangouts in beautiful downtown Northport. This sports grill has a great outdoor patio space to enjoy with your friends while basking in the sunshine. Enjoy daily drink specials, weekly live music, multiple TV's, super friendly staff and great food. You must try the fried olives...yes, fried olives!

On game days, you can catch a van ride to and from local campuses. The van runs two hours before the game and two hours after the game making it convenient and hassle free. Make sure to check it out.

We loved taking our little one to the historic Northport train depot and model train exhibit this past weekend! It is open to the public for free on Saturday's from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is located at 803 25th Ave, Northport, AL 35476. My son loved going inside the red caboose train car and climbing all over the exterior. He also enjoyed seeing the model railroad museum located inside the former GM&O Railway Station. It was a short and sweet little family outing before lunch and his afternoon nap. Check it out if you have time! Children will especially love it.

Northport hosts the well loved Kentuck Arts Festival, which is known to be one of the Nation's top arts and crafts festivals. Don't miss out this October! The festival will be held on Saturday, October
12-13, 2019. Times are Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Mark's Mart is a specialty grocery store and butcher shop in downtown Northport. They are most famously known for their chicken swirls. They have awesome quality meats and a great selection of local food, sauces, etc. They are conveniently located in downtown Northport. Make sure to stop by and check it out!!

When the weather is nice, I leave the office early and head out to nature. One of my favorite parks is Sokol Park. It's located less than five minutes from my home and a great place to hike, bike, and just enjoy some green spaces. Today the dog park was a busy spot!

Lake Tuscaloosa, a 5800 acre lake, was constructed in 1970 to supply water to Tuscaloosa residents. However the lake is a popular recreation area including fishing and boating. Many residential homes dot the shoreline of the lake, including weekend cabins or luxury homes with magnificent views.

I'm lucky enough to be able to ride my bike to Ingram's Market and Ice Cream. Located across from Sokol Park, Ingram's has fresh, seasonal vegetables. And next door is their cute little ice cream shop. It's the perfect spot to sit on the porch after a long bike ride or hike!

Each year in October since 1971, Northport hosts Kentuck Arts Festival, one of the Nation's top arts and crafts festivals. Gather the kids and enjoy a day in the park. Artists include basket weavers, metal artists, painters, and many others.

Favored by college students, men and women in suits, and local construction crews alike, City Café has something for everybody. Serving breakfast and lunch, get there too late and you'll have to wait. Tables and booths fill up fast for folks who want a hearty breakfast or a weekday meal and three hot meals for lunch. Conveniently located in historic downtown Northport, City Café is just a few miles from the University of Alabama campus and even closer to downtown Tuscaloosa. Returning Alabama Alumni usually make at least one stop at City Café, and many a student road trip, local campaign for office or local business deal was hatched in a City Café booth. But don't just take it from me, go have a City Café experience and find out for yourself!

Now you can go ice skating in T-Town. Just take Jack Warner Pkwy and go to Holiday on Ice. It is located directly beside the Tuscaloosa Library. It is also right across the street from Tinsel Trail. You can do it all. Right down the road is the "Broken Egg" so you can stop in and get a bite to eat after all your fun celebrating the Christmas season with the Tuscaloosa Community!

Make sure you take the time to go out and see the Tinsel Trail on Jack Warner Pkwy. It is great for the entire family! We took our grandkids and they picked the "funniest" and "their favorite! We then went and had cookies and talked about all the beautiful trees. It was a fun night out and we thoroughly enjoyed it. This has become a regular Christmas event for our Tuscaloosa Community!

Dickens Christmas is an event held every year for the community! Live events, snow machine, all the shops are open to browse, horse drawn carriage rides, music and fun. This is an event that is no cost to the community, just come and have fun! Many of the owners of the stores are dressed up in apparel of the Dickens era and it's fun for all. This year it was not so cold and very enjoyable. This is some of what the Northport Community has to offer you!

If you have not stopped in to the Pumpkin Patch you are missing out. All shapes and sizes that will fit your needs for decoration or cooking, and contribute to a great cause! This Pumpkin Patch is run by Flatwoods Baptist Church and supports a mission project by their young people. It can be a great outing for your young ones to get to pick their own pumpkin to decorate. Take some fun photo shots and help change the world at the same time. Make it a point to stop by and say "hello"!

Make a point to drive out to Crimson Pride on Hwy 43 N in Northport, AL. They have all the gear you are looking for, for those Alabama Football games. Much of their items are discounted so you not only get what you are looking for, but they have much more than T-shirts at discounted prices. Located about two miles up Hwy 43 N. on your left. I stopped in last week and found a bow for my granddaughter and some AL socks for my grandson. Make Crimson Pride your next stop!

Whether you're looking for the best pumpkin to carve at Halloween, or the biggest watermelon to eat on the 4th of July, you can find it all at P & P Produce! This family owned produce vendor sells fresh fruits, veggies, and seasonal plants. Located at 2000 20th Avenue in Northport.
